Fruit is the name of our game...

We specialize in all types of fruit and raise them all organically.  We think in systems at SpringRain Farm, so we plan for our animals and plants to work together.  We grow fruit trees and raise chickens among in our orchards to provide amazing manure for fertilizer and to eat all the bugs and other potential pests.  We also feed our spent fruit to our chickens, ensuring there is no waste.  Rotten tomatoes, squished berries, they love it and the flavor of their meat and eggs show the difference. The cycle of manure to soil to fruit to manure continues on and on.

Organic Berries

We grow an amazing array of organic berries at SpringRain Farm. We specialize in unusual fruit that may not store or ship well, but is amazingly flavorful.  In order of when they ripen: Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries, Currants,  Sylvanberries, Gooseberries,  Marionberries, Blackberries

Organic Antique Apples

At SpringRain, we focus on diversity.  Diversity in our overall production and diversity within our crops.  John is always trying to determine which varieties will flourish in our small niche in the world.  As part of that, we grow over 50 different types of apples.  Most are antique varieties known for their amazing flavor and disease resistance.

Some of our favorites for fresh eating are Chehalis, Fireside, Roxbury Russett, Spartan, Liberty, Winter Banana, and Enterprise.  We also love the sharp tannins of our cider apples: Arkansas Black, Dabbinette, Thompkins King, and our favorite name, Westfield-Seek-No-Further.

Organic Pears

This picture is from when we first established our pear orchard in 2009.  Since then, our trees have flourished and are beginning to yield nice amounts of fruit.  We are trialing several varieties of Asian Pear to determine which varieties do best on our farm and also several European Pears that have been bred for the PNW.
